Patrick Rimoux

by Martina Stella

Patrick Rimoux is an artist and light sculptor. He graduated from the École Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts de Paris in Claude Viseux's studio in 1986. He then worked as an artist and light designer, exhibiting in various contexts in France and abroad. He then founded the Patrick Rimoux agency, where he collaborates with architects and designers.
Together, they work on liturgical lighting projects, on shows and events, as well as on permanent installations: specialized in lighting creations, the agency uses projection and video mapping for singular installation projects.
A case in point is the installation The Black Pavilion, Small Nomad House Project, created in 2019 for the Art Basel Design fair, in collaboration with architect Odile Decq. The pavilion is mapped on all four sides, and projections covering the walls and roof of the structure continue onto the floor surrounding the small building.

The Patrick Rimoux agency worked on architectural mapping projects during the 2017 Nuit Blanche in Paris, Boulevard des Invalides with the Minsky Gallery. In this installation, the monumental projection becomes a meeting space: between different practices, video effects and environments, between the inhabitants of the neighborhood and the city.
In its punctual use of video mapping, the Patrick Rimoux agency presents singular approaches of the projection, specific to each installation in which it intervenes.
