Holymage

Holymage is a visual creation studio founded in October 2014 by Antoine Géré and Xavier Mailliez, both graduates (since 2005) from the Ecole de Communication Visuelle in Paris, following a number of freelance collaborations (especially within Cosmo AV). They both define themselves as ‘video designers’; in their view, video mapping is one video staging technique among others. During its first four years of existence, Holymage experimented with various video staging techniques, including micro mapping (with Requiem for James Dean, a mapping project on the miniature mould of James Dean’s Porsche). In 2017, for the International Comics Festival, Holymage stages l’univers de la bande dessinée Jeremiah [Jeremiah: the comic book world] (as a tribute to the author, Hermann), in an abandoned industrial site in Angoulême. The reconnects with the more traditional field of monumental mapping in 2018, especially with Elevation, on the Eglise St Roch, as part of Montpellier’s night-time spectacle Cœur de Ville en Lumière [Ndlt: the heart of the city lit up].
