Miguel Chevalier

Born in Mexico in 1959, Miguel Chevalier graduated from the Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts (1981) and the National School of Decorative Arts in Paris (1983). He lives and works in Paris. Chevalier, who has used IT as a means of artistic expression since 1978, is considered a pioneer of digital art. Since the late 1980s, he has created site-specific installations, in public spaces and on architectural structures, encompassing light projection (e.g. Anthropométrie, produced within the Kremlin-Bicêtre Hospital in 1989). Fascinated by generative images and networking, he gradually integrates mapping into his techniques. He creates Digital Supernova — a generative digital installation in the Notre-Dame Cathedral in Rodez — in August 2019, as well as Digital Moirés — on the dome of the Espace Niemeyer, headquarters of the French Communist Party — in October 2021.
