Olivier Ratsi

A plastic artist, Olivier Ratsi’s interest in images dates to the late 1990s: he founds the Emovie collective, which produces audiovisual performances, clips and VJing. Little by little, he begins to reflect on the perception of space and its deconstruction (which will result, in particular, in the photographic series, Anarchitecture). In 2007, he co-founds the AntiVJ visual label alongside the plastic artists Yannick Jacquet, Romain Tardy and Joanie Lemercier and, jointly with them, produces some pioneering work in the history of video mapping in France, most notably Light sculpture. He develops a new approach — which he dubs ‘perspective mapping’ — consisting in re-using the lines of perspective of the supporting medium to create the visual content that will be projected onto it. He implements this approach in 2013 with Onion Skin, followed by Delta, XYZ and Form — which create intangible forms in space. All these works were shown at Olivier Ratsi’s personal exhibition, at the Gaïté Lyrique, Paris, in 2021.
