Élodie Poidatz

by Martina Stella

Élodie Poidatz is an artist and designer. She graduated from ENSCI - Les Ateliers in 2001 and specializes in graphic design, industrial design and video mapping. In Élodie Poidatz's practice, design is inspired by sculpture, in its approach to shapes and materials, while mapping has an important link with painting.

The specificity of her mapping work stems from a pictorial approach to content creation, based on matte painting, an old cinematographic technique of painting on glass.
She works on sets, still images, and lighting that use the principle of mapping without necessarily resorting to video. Élodie Poidatz favors architectural supports, buildings, details of facades, as in the coloring of the Tympanum of the Last Judgment of the Abbey of Sainte-Foy de Conques, a project she developed in collaboration with the agency Athem-Skertzò, in 2022.

She also worked with the Cosmo AV agency on the show Le Ciné-magicien, a tribute to Georges Méliès, for the Carrières de Lumières in Les Baux-de-Provence, in 2017. Long-term collaboration is a characteristic feature of her work: she regularly works with festivals, such as Biarritz en lumière and Métamorph'eau'ses, in Châlons-en-Champagne, cities, such as Rueil-Malmaison, or other creators. Élodie Poidatz's personal approach to video mapping has led her to collaborate with mapping studios and agencies such as Cosmo AV, Athem-Skertzò, Holymage, and SpectreLab.
