Kolektif Alambik

by Martina Stella

The Kolektif Alambik works at the crossroads of monumental projection, scenography and lighting.

It defines itself, as its name indicates, as a "distillery of images": with an almost artisanal approach, the collective intervenes manually on analog supports such as slides, with scratching, painting, chemistry, collage. This work on film supports takes into account the materiality of the image and contributes to create narrative effects in their shows, based on continuation and painting.

The Kolektif Alambik works on architectural mapping, for live performance, but also experiments with projection on other supports, in particular trees, obtaining similar renderings to holographic projection. Active since 1992, they are now based in Palaiseau, in the Paris region.

Among their flagship projects are the architectural mapping on the Palais de Justice during the Sharjah Light Festival in 2014, the monumental mapping Les polychromies de la cathédrale on the Cathédrale Saint-Pierre de Poitiers in 2016, or the mapping on the Grande Cascade of the Saint-Cloud park domain during the Rock en Seine festival in 2022.
